Chelsea is a Marriage and Family therapist in Winter Park Florida (she/her). She developed an interest in relationships and human connection while earning her bachelor's degree in psychology from North Carolina State University. Chelsea then went on to recieve her Master's in Marriage and Family therapy from the University of Central Florida's Counseling Education Program. During this time Chelsea had the opportunity to work as a HIV tester and risk reduction counselor as a graduate assistantship. Helping younger adults navigate healthy sexual relationships allowed her to better understand the influence of trauma on the way humans connect with others and with themselves. Being a black woman and member of the LGBTQ community she emphasizes the importance of how our unconscious mind processes marginalization. However, Chelsea has been successful in helping clients of various backgrounds to uncover unconscious wounds, needs and emotions.
Chelsea enjoys using a collaborative approach in working with clients as she believes that you are the expert on your life and her job is to walk alongside of you in your journey. Chelsea enjoys working with adults, families and couples. She likes to take an approach that integrates trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy, somatic experiencing, attachment theory and psychodynamic theories. Using these concepts she implements mindfulness, grounding, nervous system awareness, and positive coping skills to calm inner stress as clients uncover their underlying emotions. Together, Chelsea's hope is to help her clients uncover what was once hidden to achieve more a fulfilling relationship with yourself and the world around you.
