Adam Baldowski, PhD, MA, LMHC has worked in various fields throughout their career. Beginning in the film and television industry, Adam worked in the creative arts, eventually moving into education teaching media design and narrative studies, and has incorporated their knowledge and practice of narrative in their studies of human nature.

Adam received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Video and Film, as well as a Master’s of Fine Arts in Film and Television, from the Savannah College of Art and Design. Most recently, Adam attended Rollins College where they earned a Master’s of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling. Adam also earned a non-clinical PhD in Media Psychology from Fielding Graduate University. Adam’s background in the narrative and creative arts, as well as their academic studies, gives them a unique perspective on how people make meaning from their lived experiences.

They are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, a certified Geek Therapist and Game Master, and is a self-proclaimed geek. Their speciality is working with individuals ages 13+ specializing in gender identity/dysphoria, sexuality, anxiety, life transition, and dissociative disorders.

Adam not only identifies as part of the LGTQIA+ community, but also is a long-time nerd and geek. They believe the best way to reach clients is to speak their language. While talk-therapy is the main format used in sessions, Adam also incorporates elements of geek culture into their work, including gaming, comic books, film, music, and more. Most recently Adam has utilized TTRPG’s therapeutically and will soon be introducing Virtual Reality into the therapeutic space. Everyone geeks out about something so why not bring those interests into therapy!

Adam sees the world through a narrative lens, where people are the hero of their own stories. They recognize there is an impact, and a connection, between individuals and their environments. They found a passion for working with individuals and talking deeply with others about their personal stories.

Adam’s passion can be found in the work they do providing affirmative care for LGBTQIA+, polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous, and kink individuals. Adam also provides education and consultation for practitioners who would like to learn more about geek therapy and working with the LGBTQIA+ community.

Adam completed their internship with Zebra Coalition where they worked with LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults dealing with gender identity issues, coming to terms with sexuality, depression, anxiety, assessing Gender Dysphoria and providing HRT letters. Adam also worked with client’s families to help the family understand and prepare for a client's transition through hormone replacement therapy.
