Serena is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Intern (MH 21284). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Counselor Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Serena is a trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapist with experience in inpatient and residential settings in addition to private practice. She understands therapy as a collaborative process honoring clients’ lived experiences while opening space for growth and change.
Serena has extensive experience working with individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders that are often related to complex trauma. She has additional training in sexual assault victims’ advocacy, foster care, play therapy, and crisis intervention. She is currently building her skillset in DBT and somatic therapies.
Serena is passionate about providing affirmative therapy for LGBTQ+, polyamorous/ethically non-monogamous, and kinky individuals, and provides inclusive education for practitioners who would like to work with these populations.
